The reading

Collins Lane is a narrow laneway linking Old South Head Road with Collins Avenue, historically functioning as a rear service access for shops along the Rose Bay village strip.

In the late 2010s, the lane underwent a modest but deliberate transformation, with upgrades to paving, lighting and tenancy presentation encouraging café and food uses to turn outward rather than treat the space as back-of-house.

This shift repositioned the laneway as a pedestrian amenity rather than a service corridor, supporting informal seating, short dwell times and local social activity.
