Abercrombie Lane
Abercrombie Lane is a CBD laneway that operates primarily as a pedestrian through-link.
Connecting Pitt Street and George Street, it has limited ground-plane activation, other than a small number of tucked-away hospitality operators such as basement bar Palmer and Co, and The Grumpy Baker.
Links Pitt and George on a busy stretch, and you can see straight through from either end.
Only a couple of operators at the ends; the middle is bare wall. Quiet most of the time apart from busy nights at Palmer & Co.
Few shopfronts. What life there is comes from doorways, not windows. People pass through more than they stop.
At 2.4 m it is nicely narrow for a walking lane, and the tight squeeze is part of the appeal.
